English is just a language, not knowledge!

Yes, English is just a medium of communication. You can’t judge one’s knowledge or intelligence by his English speaking skills. A couple of days back I was talking a person and he told me he doesn’t feel like talking to anyone, I asked why, he told his friends always point out his English mistakes and insult him. I really felt bad. Though his grammar was not perfect, I could understand what he wanted to say. Maybe this person has good thoughts and ideas, just because of his friends who insult him, he doesn’t even feel like talking. I don’t understand why people do this. Correcting mistakes is different, insulting others for those mistakes is different. None of us is perfect, we are not native English speakers, so it’s ok to make mistakes. Moreover, it’s just a language to communicate and make the opposite person understand what you are intended to say.

I personally believe it’s in the way you express, not the words you use when you are talking. I know my English is not so good, but I don’t think it’s difficult to understand what I’m trying to say. One doesn’t have to use fancy words and slangs to show he can speak good English. I have friends who can speak not so good English and that was never a problem for me, I could still understand what they are talking about. I also have friends who speak better English and sometimes though I don’t know the meaning of every word they use, I can still understand what they are trying to say. Not knowing is something different from knowing but still making mistakes, I have seen people texting ” Hy du yu knoe me?”, I really don’t understand what they are trying to prove with this. Do they think it makes them sound better? creative? or fancy? This is something that you should tell someone not to do, not insulting for bad grammar. Of course, it takes time to learn grammar.

For people who think their English is bad, English is not knowledge or Intelligence, stop worrying about it. Be proud that you are at least trying to speak in a language which is not your native. Just be confident and speak out, I’m sure people who really want to listen to you will make an effort to understand what you are trying to say. You don’t have to be tongue tied, you got all the rights to speak. If you are not confident, read a lot of books written in English, read blogs and watch movies with subtitles.

If you really want to insult a person for his bad grammar, what do you say about people who speak really good English but still write CUM instead of COME 😛

Until next time…… ❤
